A dog day .....

2012 in Ohio has come in most mild.  We enjoyed 47* weather for a couple days, and then she showed her a$$ with some 15* degree days thrown in!  Don't like the weather in Ohio, just close your eyes, it's going to change in a few minutes!  LOL

Here at the Harney house mamma and puppies decided to take definite advantage of the lovely weather.  Sihngin, Samson and myself made a brisk trek around the local area.  First out with Samson heading east.  It
was a toss up which way at first but I let Mr. Samson take the lead and we went the regular route past the Elementary school, park and back home.  Samson seems to enjoy crossing over the east bridge and past the old Burch dam.  You can see no snow, leave less trees and due to the rain we've had in abundance the water was up and running!

We returned home after a wet and cold 1/2 hr because it started sleeting on us and I had left my hat at home!  Silly mamma!  Sihngin made sure I didn't forget it was her turn and so armed with a hat and warmer gloves we were off the other direction past the Northwest bridge and to the other park.

She seemed to think I was too slow and I got alot of the evil eye starting out.  She perked up once we crossed the bridge to the park.  The water had receded somewhat but was still swift for this little part of the crick, (yes, I come from country people and say crick!)

We stopped at all her favorite spots, she especially likes crossing the park bridge.  I think more because that's were we usually stop and let her off leash.  She's really a good girl and can be trusted off leash in the park. In fact we stayed off leash all the way home after some dog fun while we were there.

Just on the side of the bridge we found evidence of natures wonders.  Usually you don't see red berries until spring.  I'm not sure if it was because of the warm weather or if this is typical of this particular plant.  I do know these are NOT eating berries!

Well all in all we spent a bit longer out than Samson and I did, but both pup's were very happy for out time out and can't wait till it's a nice day again for more of the same!

Here is to You...and the New Year

Today I was doing alot of reflecting on my life and "who" I am.  I could say that it was because of the coming of the New Year and the time of  New Years Resolutions.  I could. But a little voice would be whispering in my ear, "That's not iiii'ttt!".

It's like this.  The day before Christmas my poor daughter, the mother of  5 children, pregnant with another, was trying to get ready for Christmas day, wrap presents.  Get the family ready to come to my house for Christmas, deal with my mother, (they live with her!). And still take care of a very rambunctious 2 yr old.  And she developed the flu.  And she persevered.   By Christmas morning she was much better, had things in hand ....and her husband had the flu.  But Tom...well...Tom is definitely a trooper.   He never complained.  He helped his wife at every turn.  Even had a bite of Christmas dinner. He made sure that in every way possible Christmas day would be wonderful for his children.  He's a good father.   Went home after and was sick as a dog!...

And then I got the flu! OMG is an understatement!  Sick for 2 1/2 days. Missed 2 days of work.  I'm much better today thank you very much.  Now the honey has it.  Poor thing.  I believe he may be sicker than I was.  Where am I going with this?  Well, back to the whole reflecting thing.

I was finally out of the house after my malaise and the day was just so beautiful!  I could not believe how nice it was for so late in December!  And I found myself thanking God.  I just was so overwhelmed with gratitude for the blessings my family has had this year.  I realize there are also many hardships ahead, but I am just so GRATEFUL for the blessings he has put upon us.  Right then and there...at that moment of realization, I knew what my resolution for the New Year would be.  Was it  that I would start putting God first as it should be?  Yes...and no.  Was it that I would visit my mother more and be more understanding of her?  Yes....and no. Was it that I would devote more of myself to my family?  Yes...and no.  Was it that I would be more honest in my day to day?  Yes...and no.   Was it that I would finally start eating better, working out more, taking better care of myself???  Yes....and no.

My New Years Resolution....I'm going to lighten up.  Yep....it's that simple...lighten up...the rest will follow.
So to all of you that have happened upon this blog...taken the time to read it thru.

Happy New Year!  And may you lighten up too!

                                                                        God Bless You All!

Samson's walk

Hi, my name is Samson.  Today I'm taking my mom's place on her blog.  She's terrible about keeping it up, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Now, my mom is a very busy person, ever though I don't understand all the running about and over abundance of stuff she does.  She seems to make her life very complicated.  I know...big word!  :P)  I'm very smart.  My mom says so!

Today mom didn't go to that place she calls "work".  She stayed home with my sister, Sihngin,  and me.  We love it when she stays home!  She gives us lots of yummy treats and scratches our ears and tells us she loves us and what good dogs we are!

Today, I got to go for a walk with mom...all by myself!!!  Sister was very upset because she didn't get to go.  She raised a ruckus in the garage.  I think mom was trying to sneak us out without Sihngin knowing, but my sister is the smartest dog ever!!!  That's why I'm so smart too, because she teaches me lots of stuff.  Sometimes mom doesn't like the stuff she teaches me I think...like when we got the yummy bunny....

Our walk today was very interesting.  We went past some of the usual places.   First we passed the big pond just down the street.

Now you probably can't see them in this picture, but there were Geese and Ducks out on that water!  I really wanted to chase 'em...I know I could catch them...I'm pretty sure I could swim that far!....but mom wouldn't let me....sigh....

Next we passed the factory that has woods around the back...there are lots of interesting animals living back there...Sihngin took me there before when we went on adventures that mom didn't know about....

There are bunnies living in there!!!!!

I don't know why mom won't let me chase the bunnies...
They run very fast....but I'm so much faster!  Bunnies
are yummy!

Oh well....siggghhh....we went past the woods an then up, up over
the really cool climbing up sidewalk!
I love the climbing up sidewalk...I get to be really high and mom let's me
look out over all the stuff on the ground!  Today there was one of those
big loud moving thingy's...I was right over top of it!!!!!

It was so exciting!!

I don't think mom knows that I understand that she
tries to teach me lessons when we go on our walks.
Thats why I get so many yummy treats!  Don't tell her, but sometimes I take my time doing what she wants so she'll give me extra treats when I get it right!  ha ha!

Today we learned about waiting and sitting before
we cross the street.  Mom doesn't want me to forget

and walk out in front of the big metal things.  They go really fast and mom worries I'll get hurt by one of them
She doesn't have to worry though, I know just what
to do!

We walked up town and all round some of the places sister and I visited when we were by ourselves.  I tried to show mom some of the places we went, but she made me stay with her.

One of the best parts of our walk was the new
walking harness mom got for me.  I used to have to wear this bridle type thingy over my nose.  It just felt crazy and I couldn't stand it.  I like the new harness mom got for me now though. I still can't run to all the cool stuff I see, but mom seems much happiers and doesn't get stern with me and we walked much longer this time!  It was Great!

Some of the places we walked mom would stop and point her little black thingy at stuff.  It would make this weird kinda noise.  I wanted to chase some leaves, but mom wouldn't let me.  Don't tell her I said so, but sometimes mom is not that fun!!!
Here is one of the things we walked past.  Mom said it was something called , "Santa's House".  I'm not sure who Santa is, but his house sure was neat!

Well, that's about it for our walk today.  I really did like it, and hope mom takes me again real soon.  Except I hope we take sister with us next time, cuz she was a bit peeved today.  I tried to play with her and tell her about our walk when I got home, and , well....she BIT me!  Girls!!

That's what I love about Sunday

What a beautiful, rainy Sunday!  It's uncharacteristically warm for this time in November here in Ohio.  58* and I'll take it!

Up early on a Sunday off, 6:15 to be exact.  An uplifting trip to Sunday service and then home for a delicious Grilled Cheez and Kale Sandwich,  washed  down with a Belgian White Aftershock....

The Browns are off to a good start on the TV and lazy music on to sooth my soul....Yeah...it's Sunday!

We were truly blessed this year for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Bobbe and Tom were home this year and I really enjoyed having all of them here with us.

Now it's time for this girl to kick off the heels, watch the game and well, do nothing in particular!
